Education Opportunities to Learn Statistics in the USA One in five kids in the United States lives in a household with an income below the poverty line. This means that millions of children are growing up without access to the resources they need to thrive. Unfortunately, this also has a major impact on their education. Studies have shown that kids from low-income families are more likely to drop out of school, and those who do graduate are less likely to go on to college. They are also more likely to struggle academically, and their test scores are typically lower than those of their more affluent peers. Why Marginalized Kids Struggle With School One of the most frustrating realities facing education today is that kids who need the most help often receive the least. Whether it's because of poverty, racism, or a lack of resources, these kids often start school at a disadvantage and then fall even further behind as they struggle to keep up with their peers. As a result, they are more likely to drop out of school and end up in a cycle of poverty and despair. <50% of low-income children are ready for school at the age of five Only 63% of kids from low-income families complete high school Only 40% of teen mothers graduate from high school 70% of inmates do not have a high school diploma >75% of low-income 4th and 8th-grade students are not proficient in reading or math >77% of 4th and 8th-grade students of color are not proficient in reading or math Students in foster care are more likely to be suspended or expelled from school Approx ⅔ kids in juvenile detention drop out of school Education Programs Help Kids Feel Smart Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and ensuring that all kids have an opportunity to succeed. Investing in education is essential if we want to create a fairer and more just society for everyone. Thankfully, there are programs and initiatives that are working to close the achievement gap and give all kids an equal chance at success. But until we address the underlying factors that disadvantaged kids face, we will continue to see too many bright young minds falling through the cracks. Giving Marginalized Kids Opportunities to Learn Too many kids in the United States are growing up without access to the resources they need to thrive, including a quality education. Millions of children are at a disadvantage from the start. They are more likely to drop out of school, and those who do graduate are less likely to go on to college. They are also more likely to struggle academically, and their test scores are typically lower than those of their more affluent peers. Believe in Me funds educational programs that provide support, resources, and opportunities to learn for marginalized kids. With your help, we can help them stay in school and graduate with the skills they need for future success. Your Donation Can Make A Difference All kids deserve a quality education! That’s why we're working hard to make sure that every child has the opportunity to succeed. We know that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and making society better for everyone. We also know that some kids don't have as many advantages as others, and we want to help change that. Keep reading for examples of how your kindness and caring are helping ensure no child is left behind. Donate Volunteer Apply for a grant

Marginalization causes the lack or denial of resources, rights, goods, and services and the inability to participate in relationships and activities available to most people in our community. Children are especially susceptible to these forms of marginalization as their childhood experiences pave the way for their adult lives. It is our goal to bridge the gap for these marginalized kids.
